Old Town Stroll - Krakow
9:07 AM
I've had the pleasure of visiting Krakow this past January. It is a city in the south of Poland, which was the capital of Poland before Warsaw. Like most cities in Europe, Krakow old town's center is the Main Market Square or Rynek Główny. I stayed at a hostel on Bracka Road, which is very near to square and have easy access to restaurants, bars and shops. People kept telling me to go to Krakow so I just had to see it :) I was travelling with friends from Dębica. We took a train and arrived at the Krakow's trains station. Near the station you'll find Galleria Krakowska, which is the big mall with good international brands. A 20 minute walk will get you to the Main Market Square.

Places to see
In the main square, you should see St. Mary's Basilica, Cloth Hall and Town Hall Tower. The other worth seeing place is Wawel Castle, where Polish Kings used to live. It is opened for public and has several exhibition rooms to choose from. It is a big complex. I visited only one exhibition, showing some of the grand rooms with majestic tapestry. Very pretty. There is also a souvenir shop which is convenient but can be quite pricey.

Other places to see around the old town is the Florian Gate or the old city gate, Barbakan, the remains of the once huge walls of security, and several churches like St.Andrews and St. Peter and Paul Church.

For you who seeks more adventure, you can visit the Salt Mine, an underground city made of salt, Oskar Schindler's Factory or Auschwitz camp, which is a just one bus ride away.
Always,
