A Thing of the Past

The very first time I visited Kota Tua I dined at this really cool cafe called Cafe Batavia, located at Taman Fatahillah. It is very famous around the area and I can't forget my experience there. Now, about ten years since, I came back again waiting to be amazed once more. The cafe has an old glamour look to it, with walls covered in pictures of vintage photographs or famous old Hollywood movie stars. Most of the faces eating in it is of course foreigners, which I think the restaurant targets. The Jakarta Old Town is slowly beginning to be a really cool tourist must see. It's funny to see people around us eating Nasi Goreng and Gado-Gado, which is probably the icon of our city. But we opted for some pasta, noodles and Nasi Campur.
It is beautifully presented but nothing really special. The price? Don't even ask. It's suited for foreigners. 36,000 for Cola is not okay. The service? Wasn't satisfied at all. Conclusion? I don't think I'll ever come back to this restaurant for a very, very long time.
Always,
Hana
