A French Getaway

2:46 AM

Food brought us to Pantai Indah Kapuk. Well, not exactly--a certain water park did. But, outside of the park, we found a haven for food. Numerous ramen shops, steaks and ribs, a lot of tea places and Indonesian dishes to mention a few.

We went to a random block and stumbled upon this, Beatrice Quarters. I love the name Beatrice--and Alice. If I have twin girls, I'll name them Beatrice and Alice. Anyway, so here we are. It was trying to bring French Cuisine by the looks of the menu. It's a small place, with an outdoor extension to fit more people. The inside area is small but still comfortable. It serves everything from fragrant rice to pastas and steaks.

 Dory En Papillote

Fragrant Salmon

I read several interesting menu. So we ordered these dishes. First, Dory En Papillote. En Papillote is a French cooking techniques, in a parchment. It's usually to cook fish or veggies. I ordered a Dory En Papillote--Dory cooked in a parchment. The parchment is folded in a certain way to contain all the sauces or juices of everything inside. Verdict? It was okay. There are potatoes, mushrooms (which is so good!), some carrots and other veggies. But the dory portion is just too small. Dory is cheaper right? Well, compared to salmon. I think they should put more.

The second dish is Fragrant Salmon - a handful of fragrant rice with seared salmon on the side. This is top-notch. The rice is a long grain rice, mixed with what seems to be butter (which is just divine), with herbs such as rosemary. The salmon? Perfect!

The last is Baby Chicken Half, which is grilled chicken with mushroom sauce and potatoes. This is a pure joy for chicken lover like myself. A little too indulging because they grilled the chicken with its skin. The mushroom sauce is a great companion to the chicken, creamy. The potato was a treat. It was mashed potato, very nice creamy (with milk I think?), smooth consistency but wrapped in a thin soft crepe like dough. Delightful!

Millefeuille Matcha

The dessert is the creme de la creme. Millefeuille Matcha. It's a French pastry favorite with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. It is a three layered puff pastry, with pastry cream or whipped cream between them and on top is this matcha flavored icing. It was icing mixed with matcha powder, it has that granulated consistency. It was heavenly - a little on the too sweet lane, actually. But it's perfect for sharing, a very guilty, heavenly sharing.

Beatrice Quarters is located in Ruko Crown Blok B, just off Waterbom park.
