A Short Getaway

Hey guys!

So in February, a few friends and I went on a sneaky getaway to Bali. Well, we were invited to attend a Potong Gigi ceremony - a sort of coming of age event for our Balinese friend. We went for five days and it was awesome! Here's some snaps.

It's been years since I last visited Bali so I was excited. I was so looking forward to seeing the traditional side of Bali, not just the beach-y side. There were three girls and a guy, sharing a very cool house together.

On day one we went to the village of Tabanan. It's way up in the mountain, the journey felt like forever. But, it's just like what I imagined, her grandparents' house is in the middle of nowhere, with its own pura and all so jolly for the festivities.

The food is super delicious and you can't find it anywhere else (in love with lawar). Ah, yes, we had a lot of pork and I love it. Basically, the first day is all ceremony day. It was amazing to see how people still do their ritual and stayed loyal to their roots even in this age. I wish I still have that identity. I fear I'm a bit too 'metropolis'.

Anyway, on the next day we went to Tanah Lot, Alas Kedaton and Bedugul. I love Bedugul, it reminds me a lot of Weggis (look it up, it's a small town in Swiss). It was foggy, can't really see anything on the lake, chilly, windy but that was how I like it. There's a sense of peace in that place. I wish I live nearby so I can just go there and chill out. It's super relaxing. I came up with a lot of story ideas in that place.

The last day is beach hopping day. We got sun and waves! In the morning we went to Padang-padang beach, that famous place thanks to Eat, Pray, Love. I love this place-my kind of beach! Well, it's probably because we arrive quite early and it was a peak season so it was pretty slow. It feels like a private beach. The other beach we went to is Pandawa Beach, a relatively newly opened beach. It was a good place to go kayak but it was packed. The sand was still too coarse so it was uncomfortable.

All and all, it was a gem. I loved our trip.

Always
