Trippin' Day 3: Jepara-Kudus

8:03 AM

Hey guys!

So on the last day of my trip, we went down to Kudus and in between we stopped by at an area called Troso, which is famous for it's kain tenun. For those of you who don't know, kain tenun is the art of weaving fabric. Here's some of their work. They have simpler patterns than Batik because of course it's harder to weave than to draw on a fabric.

Next, we drove down to Kudus to visit the city's (so called) best Soto Kudus. It's located at Jalan Wahid Hasyim, Soto Ayam Bu Jatmi. The soup contains rice (I don't like it like this but okay), shredded chicken, bean sprout and garnish. It was sweet, too sweet for my taste. I'm very sorry, but my tongue is so used to savory soup and this soup just feels so wrong. But hey, maybe you'll like it! I do love the lung satay. Yum!

After picking up my brother in Kudus, we went back to Jepara for a quick rest and at night we went to Jepara's Chinatown on Jalan Diponegoro (if I'm not mistaken). Someone recommended Mie Bandung Matahari; it's pretty odd to eat at place named after Bandung all the way here in Jepara. But they do have extensive Chinese, Indonesian and Western food. My brother chose a Beef Noodle Hot Plate, which is so good. But I chose an adventurous (but gone horrible wrong) Mie Goreng India.

On the last morning before heading home to Semarang, we had a quick stop at Pantai Kartini, which turns out to be a let down for me. I wish they had taken more care of it. It's just a pretty dull place. But it has a water conservatory/aquarium inside the sea turtle building.

Sea Turtle!

Bonus: En route to Semarang, we went (again) to Kudus and went to Perusahaan Susu Moeria or Milk Moeria Company. There were live cows on sight! You know it's real! We ordered cold chocolate milk and chocolate milk with honey. Yep, it's good and less sweet compared to store bought, regular chocolate milk. That was a treat! I hear they also sell a good pudding but didn't have the time to try them.

Yep so there you go, see you!

Always
