Ohayo Japan: Kyoto!
5:51 AM
Hey guys!
I continued my Japan trip to Kyoto, the cultural city of Japan. Again, to save money we took the Willer bus (the cheapest one). It was an over night trip and it wasn't bad at all. The bus will take you near the Kyoto Station. Our hotel is very close to it, APA Horikawadori, just a few minutes from the station. The check-in time was 3 pm so we left our bag and head over to Kiyomizu-dera, a famous temple in Kyoto. The city has an all day bus pass so it was convenient to travel around. There's also the Number 100 bus that will go to famous tourist sites. So, early morning we took the bus and went to Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
When we got there it was partly renovated but it was still beautiful. The main shrine was said to be built with only wood and no nails! I loved it. It was very pretty. But I was even more amazed by the next site, the Ginkaku-ji or the Silver Pavillion. It is basically a Zen temple complex. When the tourist leave, it is so peaceful and so pretty.
Kyoto is definitely the cultural city, there are lots of temples and worshiping sites, and the city itself is small. Next, we went to Heian Jingu or the Heian Shrine. Again, it is a Shinto temple but the one you have to see is the garden. You have to pay 500 yen I think but it is totally worth the money.
It is so pwetty!
