Ohayo Japan: Osaka!
6:48 AM
Hello guys!
Here is my last post on my Japan travels. My last city was Osaka, the second biggest city in Japan. We took a limited express train to Osaka Station. Our hotel was a bit far from it, but very close to Osaka-jo. I was so excited to see the famous Osaka-jo. When I was learning Japanese in high school and uni, the teacher always made this place an example. So I was finally there! But before that, I wanted to share this food: the awesome, awesome beef bowl and curry at Sukiya. It is also a very famous chain restaurant, very friendly to tourists.
Osaka is famous for these two dishes: takoyaki or octopus balls and okonomiyaki or Japanese pancake. I loved both-even in Jakarta. But there beats all I ate before. They were so, so good. The balls just melted into my mouth. There was only one piece of octopus but it was quite satisfactory.
While in Osaka, we also had our last dinner in town in this really famous yakiniku place, the Matsusaka Yakiniku. Matsusaka beef is one of the big three beef, that is the best beef in Japan. It is a self grill restaurant. It was real fancy. We were lucky to only have to wait for a few minutes. The waitress was friendly. But I truly believe it tasted like any other Australian beef. Maybe it was just me or maybe we ordered the wrong beef, I don't know. I did not enjoy this. Maybe I had too high expectations. The part that I enjoyed was the tongue! I loved tongue!
All in all, I cannot wait to go back to Japan. There are much more to see. Maybe in the near future I can do the trip!
