Casa de Peri, Kota Kasablanka

6:22 AM

Hey guys!

I've been meaning to try this restaurant for ages. However, a quick glance through the menu had me running towards a much cheaper chicken fast food chain. It was definitely out of my budget but one day I went out with my family (so I wasn't paying, yes!) and we dined here, finally. It was during Ramadan month so it was practically empty when we got there at around 11 am (figures!). It is located at Upper Ground Level of Kota Kasablanka, Tebet, Jakarta.

Obviously their staple food is peri peri chicken. For your information, peri peri or piri piri  sauce is said to be originated in Portugal. It is distinctively hot and sour at the same time. You might recognise this type of sauce from that famous restaurant Nando's. Sadly there it is non existent in Jakarta. Your best chance is in Singapore. This place tried to recreate this dish. Let's see

Industrial-theme eating place

The dish that immediately got my attention was Peri peri Chicken Rice Paella (Paella is Spanish right? Hmmm). I had Paella once before and I remember I loved it so I gave this a try. It looked kind of sad - there were only three pieces of chicken breast and a whole lot of nasi kuning. Essentially it is their version of fried rice but it said that they use saffron. But sadly my palette cannot pick this up because alas, I don't think I've ever tasted saffron. I can tell you that it was delicious.

My dad and brother teamed up to have this giant aptly named Party for Two. Well, it should be party for two or more because it was enormous! It came with two chicken breast with your choice of peri peri sauce, some pieces of smaller chicken wings, two rice, fries and a reasonable amount of salad. It was amazing! Just get this one the next time you visit.

Honestly, I won't be coming back here. However, if you're running out of options in Kota Kasablanka, this place can certainly be on your list. If you choose correctly, you'll go home with a full stomach. Also, if you're adventurous you can always try to apt up the dish by ordering the highest level of spiciness. I dare you!
