Trippin' : Jepara
12:38 AM
Hey guys!
I'm currently travelling to Jepara, Bumi Kartini! Our family is an adventurous pack so here we are. We flew to Semarang, stayed the night in Kudus and in the morning off we went to Jepara. Kudus is about an hour by car from Semarang and Jepara is 45 minutes from Kudus (on a good day, of course). I've never traveled to the north part of Java so passing Demak, Kudus and finally to Jepara was an experience in itself.
On day one we arrived on lunch time and after browsing the web, I found out that Jepara is famous for its fish dishes, especially a fish soup called Pindang Serani. Some blogs I found recommend to go to Jalan AE Suryani, which is the street that leads up to Pantai Kartini. There are a number of restaurants there and we picked a random La Marina.
Pindang Serani has a clear broth, fresh-sour taste and a kick of hot chili. It was refreshing. They use red snapper fish for this dish. After a few reads, I found that the key of making this dish is not cooking it too long, so the fish won't get saggy. I actually love this kind of fish soup.

We also ordered Ikan Patikoli (because the waited recommended this). It said to be a local fish here in Jepara and it is smoked, not grilled. I love it!!! I love smoked fish and this is just good. Fresh!

We stayed at a villa on Teluk Awur area called Bayfront Villa. Yes it is pricey but it's quiet and I'm all about quiet beach villa. I love it here.
Always
