Malang Plesiran Day 3
6:25 AM
Hey guys!
Breakfast menu: Soto Rampal! This place is quite hard to find. It is named after the area, which is now named Jalan P. Sudirman. It is a clear soup, like a regular soto ayam but they change the chicken into beef. There's something about beef in this place. It was totally delicious but considering the meat, it was quite pricey. But I love it, yeah!
The third day of my visit was supposed to be educational and historical because we went to Candi! There are lots of Candi or Temples around this region, namely Candi Badut, Candi Singhosari, Candi Kidal, Candi Jago but we only went to two sites since, well we are not archaeologists.
Candi Badut is the oldest of those. It was here before the Singosari Kingdom existed. It is nestled around villagers houses and it was quiet. It is in a good condition considering its age, and also because it has been restored with the help from our Dutch friends. It doesn't say much on why this temple was built aside from it was built around that Badut area. Maybe comment if you know?
The second site we went to was Candi Singhosari, which was made by of course Ken Arok from the Kingdom Singosari. Most of statues were gone or stolen.
After that trip we went to Waroeng Daun at Republik Tel0 which is located on the road leading to Lawang. I cannot comment much but please, do not come there. It is the ultimate tourist trap. Some of food are actually okay but the service was terrible. The so called Tel0 was just a gimmick to sell things that is quite ordinary. The bakpao? No, they do not know how to make a proper bakpao. Seriously!
However, this one does: Bakpao Boldy. Located in the Chinatown area, Boldy used to be the named of it. It is very hard to find, considering we came to its factory, so it is a home. However you can go inside house number 25 and there should be someone to take your order. They sell chicken fillings, pork fillings and kacang tanah. No kidding this bakpao is so good. It is minced pork (finally something minced I like) which is very different from what I am used to (I eat Bakpao A1 usually). Good news that they are opening a store in Pluit, Jakarta Utara.
